CHWMEG announces the completion of their Facility Review Program for the ATS Pasadena facility
CHWMEG is a compliance evaluation consortium with 220 members representing over 550 individual companies. CHWMEG specializes in auditing hazardous waste disposal facilities throughout the United States, and was selected to review the ATS cleaning facility due to the high volumes of hazardous wastes and chemicals managed by the facility on behalf of several CHWMEG clients. The third-party audit report is made available to CHWMEG clients in order to streamline facility approval and risk management activities for the petrochemical industry.

ATS Completes Emergency Soil Remediation Project at China Lake NAWS
Late on a Friday in late January, ATS was called to respond to an emergency fuel spill at China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station. ATS and its subcontractors worked seven straight days to contain the contamination and prevent it from reaching the shallow water table. Once contained, ATS removed 190 truckloads of contaminated soil for off-site recycling. The project, valued at just over $1.1 million, earned ATS and its team commendations from all parties involved with the cleanup.

ATS Completes RCRA Closure of Hazardous Waste Boiler
Due to its familiarity with both industrial cleaning and hazardous waste permitting issues, ATS was selected to perform cleaning and decommissioning of a waste boiler at a major petrochemical facility on the Houston Ship Channel.

ATS Awarded Multi-Year Hazardous Waste Disposal & Environmental Services Contract – San Diego Naval Facilities and Surrounding Locations
ATS was awarded an 18-month contract with two 18-month options for packaging, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes generated at military installations in the San Diego, California area. The award allows ATS to expand its prominent role in assisting the Department of Defense manage waste disposal associated with operating the United States Armed Forces. The contract, with an estimated value of $8.6 million, encompasses all phases of environmental services including waste disposal, tank cleaning, emergency spill response, and on-site environmental management.

ATS Pasadena Cleaning Facility Adds Kosher Cleaning Certification
ATS announces completion of a new Kosher cleaning system for railcars and tank trailers at its Pasadena container cleaning facility. The Houston Kashruth Association certified the facility on August 14, 2009 to begin Kosher cleaning allowing ATS to add to its already significant cleaning services at the facility. The new system performance exceeded all design parameters when put into service.

ATS Successfully Retains Tooele Brine Contract
For the third consecutive contract term, ATS was awarded the contract for management of bulk liquid wastes from the chemical weapons incinerator at the Deseret Chemical Weapons Depot in Tooele, Utah. The ATS team was awarded the contract in large part due to years of successful service on the demanding brine shipment contract which requires, among other requirements, shipment of up to fourteen tanker loads of waste given less than one days notice. The contract award, valued at an estimated $13.6 million over four and one-half years, represents a significant achievement for ATS’s Government Services division.

ATS was awarded an 18-month contract with two 18-month options for packaging, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes generated at military installations in the Los Angeles, California area. Key installations included on the contract are March ARB, NBVC Port Hueneme, NWS Seal Beach, and NBVC Point Mugu. The contract, with an estimated value of $2.6 million, encompasses all phases of environmental services including waste disposal, tank cleaning, emergency spill response, and on-site environmental management.

ATS Pasadena Railcar Facility Achieves Class F and G Tank Car Facility Certification
As part of the ongoing effort to expand the services offered at ATS’ Pasadena, Texas railcar cleaning facility, the site has been certified by the Association of American Railroads to perform railcar repairs in accordance with a shop rating of F or G. This allows ATS to perform complementary mechanical services in addition to the comprehensive cleaning services offered at the facility. Examples include valve removal, replacement and testing, bubble leak testing, repairs to safety appliances, gasket changeout and other services associated with change of service.

ATS Selected to Clean Ethyl Corporation’s Tetraethyl Lead Tanks
After the failure of a robotic system to successfully clean the worst of the sludge from Ethyl Corporation’s Tetraethyl Lead storage tanks, ATS was called in to provide expertise in safe confined space entry where extreme toxicity and flammability issues were present. On short notice, ATS drafted the appropriate SOPs and implemented a site safety plan to ensure safe operations during the tank cleaning. ATS successfully completed the $170K project in less than 30 days with zero incidents.

ATS Awarded Contract by Shaw Environmental for RCRA closure of the Wet Air Oxidation Unit Used to Decontaminate Chemical Weapons Hydrolysate in Deer Park, Texas
ATS was awarded a contract for decontamination and waste disposal related to the RCRA closure of the WAO unit operating inside TM Deer Park Services treatment, disposal and storage facility. Working under the chemical weapons demilitarization guidelines, ATS was chosen to perform all tank and vessel cleaning, waste management and disposal related to the closure of the pilot plant. The contract award, valued at over $250,000, was a direct result of ATS's demonstrated expertise in industrial cleaning, waste management and government contracting.

ATS Completes Cleaning of Decommissioned Chevron/Phillips Sulfide Plant in Puerto Rico
ATS was awarded and successfully cleaned multiple tanks and units at Chevron/Phillips Puerto Rico chemical complex. The project required mobilization of ATS's zero-emission scrubbers and chemical recirculation units to the island on an accelerated timeline, and ATS was able to mobilize and exceed the contract completion requirements. The chemicals involved included highly odorous, toxic and flammable Ethyl Mercaptan and Dimethyl Sulfide that required strict adherence to ATS's zero-release protocols.

ATS Awarded Contract for Mercaptan Tank Cleaning Related to Plant Decommissioning at the Occidental/Natural Gas Odorizing Facility in Baytown, Texas
On January 22, 2007, ATS was awarded a $400,000 contract to decontaminate approximately 14 tanks and vessels located at the Natural Gas Odorizing facility in Baytown, Texas. With ATS's vast experience handling mercaptan and sulfonated organics in the course of vessel cleaning, ATS was the contractor of choice to manage the three-month project. ATS's proposal included the use of numerous scrubber systems to ensure zero emissions during the project.

ATS Awarded Multi-year Hazardous Waste Disposal & Environmental Services Contract – Barstow, CA and Surrounding Military Installations
ATS was awarded an 18-month contract with two 18-month options for packaging, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes generated at the following key military installations in southern California and Nevada: Marine Corp Logistics Base Barstow, Edwards Air Force Base, Marine Corp Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms. Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, and Nellis Air Force Base. The contract, valued at over $2 million per year, also involves emergency spill response, tank cleaning, analytical services and on-site management services.

ATS Awarded 4.5-Year Tooele Chemical Weapons Disposal Facility Contract
ATS was once again the successful bidder for the TOCDF Bulk Liquids Disposal Contract, this time worth an estimated $11.7 million over 4.5 years, including option periods. This award ensures that ATS will continue to provide the excellent service and performance that the facility operator, EG&G, has enjoyed since ATS first took over the contract in 2002. ATS’s customer, the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service - a branch of the Department of Defense, gave ATS exceptional marks in multiple categories on its past performance evaluation. ATS looks forward to continued excellence in servicing the Deseret Chemical Weapons Depot.

ATS Successfully Completes Merisol Tank Cleaning Management, Earns $80,000 Safety Bonus
ATS was recognized by Merisol USA for it's efforts in managing the cleaning of over fifty tanks and shipment of hundreds of tons of hazardous waste from the Merisol Haden Road, Houston facility over the course of approximately 1 year. Due, in large part, to ATS's on-site presence, the project was completed with no lost-time incidents, no OSHA recordables and no environmental releases, despite the fact that the chemicals involved were extremely toxic, corrosive and odorous. As part of it's incentive-based contract, ATS earned a one-time bonus of over $80,000 at the conclusion of the project.

ATS Commences Mobile Railcar Cleaning Project at Rohm & Haas – Deer Park
ATS was awarded a contract by Rohm & Haas – Deer Park, to clean railcars prior to repair/inspection/recertification at the Tidal Road facility. ATS's expertise in handling odorous chemicals was a key factor in the award. Chemicals to be handled include Ethyl Acrylate, Butyl Acrylate, Methyl Methacrylate and Glacial Acrylic Acid. ATS has worked with Rohm & Haas environmental and facility personnel to setup a mobile cleaning operation to meet all regulatory and air emission requirements of the facility's permits.
